Horizon Teens is a sub-project of the Christian Dependency Ministry (CDM). Millions of young South Africans are suffering from the devastating effects of drug and alcohol abuse. They are unemployed and need some vision to grow further in live.

A new movement called the Horizon Teens is challenging young people to take control of their own lives and future. 

 

The Horizon Teens are active in many rural and urban communities, empowering young people through lifestyle training to survive the pressures of modern society and above all to say NO to drug and alcohol abuse.

 

BACKGROUND
The past 10 years have seen a tremendous increase in alcohol and the abuse of other chemical resources among youth occurred. Currently the situation is of such a nature that over 34% of our youth encounter between 12-16 problems with alcohol as a verdure 25% of other drugs depends. If one further considering that many young people are suffering from devastating effects of drugs specifically to youth.

 

DOELSTELLINGS VAN DIE HORIZON KIDS

• Om die jeug te bemagtig ten einde ingeligte en verantwoordelike besluite rondom die gebruik van chemise middele te kan neem.

• Om die jeug so toe te rus dat hulle instaat sal wees om ander jeugdigdes met afhanklikheidsprobleme in die rehabilitasieproses te ondesteun.

• Om in samewerking met bestaande CAB takke programme te loods en ingligting te versprei ter voorkoming van dwelmafhanklikheid.

• Om ñ ondersteuning en nasorgdiens te lewer ten opsigte van rehabiliterende jongmense.

• Om jongmense met dwelmprobleme te motiveer tot blywende veranderinge.

OBJECTIVES OF THE HORIZON KIDS

• To empower the youth in order to make informed and responsible decisions about the use of chemical means.

• To equip/train the youth in order to help other youths with dependency problems in the rehabilitation process supports.

• In cooperation with existing CDM branches to launch and distribute informative programs for the prevention of drug dependence.

• To provide support and after care service in respect of rehabilitative young people.

• To motivate young people with drug problems to lasting changes
